No cloud chat account, no server transcript, no third-party TTS route required.
Speak naturally when you want to talk. Type when words need more care.
Use local GGUF models you choose, including standard and refusal-reduced models.
Unspoken Room is being built for conversations that should not have to pass through a company server. The app is designed around local speech recognition, local voices, and local model inference.
The core chat path is meant to run without a hosted AI account, cloud chat API, or remote transcript store.
Speech input and speech output are planned around local Parakeet and Kokoro engines.
It is not therapy, medical care, legal advice, or an emergency service. It is a private local tool.
Use LM Studio or another trusted source to place GGUF models on your Mac.
The app scans the local model folder and lets you choose what runs.
Use text chat, real-time voice conversation, or move between both without changing apps.
Standard instruct models are often steadier for everyday questions. Refusal-reduced local models answer more directly, with fewer built-in refusals or conversational guardrails, when you want plain answers from the model's training. Treat important outputs with the same care you would give any serious answer: verify facts when accuracy matters.
Unspoken Room will not tell you which model to trust. It gives you a local place to use the model you deliberately choose.
This page is early. The goal is simple: a free desktop app for private text and voice conversation with local models, built for people who need a place to speak without being watched.
